The splendor and negative legacy of Thailand (people)

Information on Thailand is now easily available in Japan. However, the coverage of the incident and the unique tourism of the area are mainly unique research themes.

It seems that the purpose and hope of those who move to Thailand outside of work are often from a human point of view. In Buddhism, it’s like “fate,” and in Christianity, it’s like “encounter.”

I have a Buddhist connection and have already studied Thailand (in Thailand) for more than 20 years. Recently, I haven’t been able to stay for a long time, so I’m having difficulty to learn than before, but I’m able to do it for some reasons. Therefore, I would like to mention about some advantages and disadvantages.

The characteristics and advantages of Buddhism are self-interest and altruism. Helping people in need (the interests of others *) is common in Theravada Buddhist country Thailand. In Japan, there are still few donations and donations to temples due to distrust of each other. The Dan family (a parishioner) system is also in the way. There are welfare corporations such as the Japanese Red Cross Society, but it seems that rich people do not give out money or human resources. Tambun, which is an act of daily merit in Thailand, is a wonderful act.

* The act of giving benefits to others is no longer a characteristic of Mahayana Buddhism.

Thai police and troops are common at checkpoints. I don’t see any that kind cooperation in Japan, probably because of the vertically divided administration. The Self-Defense Forces were also active in the Great East Japan Earthquake, but it looks like only hard work. However, it is Thailand that the police receive a bribes but the military does not receive s bribes. Bribes to civil servants are absolutely unacceptable in Japan.

Should they learn from Japan or from the West? The hope of Asian students is to get a job after returning to Japan. Even in Japan and Thailand, which basically do not allow immigrants, it is difficult to obtain a permanent resident visa due to overpopulation. From such as circumstances, excellent young people do not come to Japan very often, and exchanges are limited to short-term ones. It may be the same that there are few young people in Japan who go to study abroad in Asia.

The Japanese prefer group action in groups, but the Thais are individualistic and rich in individuality. Meals are basically eaten individually anytime, anywhere, and of course, even in groups, but quiet. Also, Thai people who are quite self-assertive even if they are children have a lot of dreams. It’s just a free idea that changes often. Basically, it is important not to get angry and to respect the other person (honor, personality).

Other negative heritage includes the military government from 2014, the issue of the Royal system of King Rama X, the VISA system (if Japan becomes stricter, the Thai side will also become stricter), mutual benefit equality (commercial affairs) agreement, each other. I feel a lack of understanding education and etc. It seems that the Thai side is super-enthusiastic.

Naturally ripe bananas are sweet, and the chips made of it are the best

August 7th is Banana Day; In the history of bananas in Japan, it used to be a luxury item, but now it has become a common food. However, I’ve heard that nowadays, blue bananas are taken and steamed with gas in the shipping vessels.

It seems that it will be shipped after expecting it to ripen by the time it hits the market.

In banana-producing countries, it keeps growing all year round, and the number of stocks increases, so the only one tree is enough to keep from hungry.

It is a super cheap fruit in the tropics with banana trees.

In addition to eating, the leaves can also be used as roof tiles or walls for simple sheds. Since the trunk contains a lot of water, it can be used as food for pigs, and when it dries, it can be used as a building material for houses.

And if you ripen it on a tree, you can’t put it on the market, but this is the sweetest and most delicious, bees and ants come to eat. And if you eat it with coconut milk, you can’t stop it anymore.

A typical example of the banana as a preserved food is “banana chips (fried)”. Great for sake (Japanese wine) snacks. If you use good oil for cooking it, the taste will more improve. Whether you fry it at home or buy it at a store, it’s also super cheap.

An example of this story was a banana tree in the garden of my country house in Chiang-Rai, northern Thailand, and a mountain tribe village living on the outskirts of the village.

@ Digression 1; There are many other ways to use bananas in Thailand. Eating grilled buckwheat with banana fruit is also nutritious.

@ Digression 2; I have heard locally that Japanese immigrants to South America used bananas for pickles. * The banana in the photo is a huge banana that is more than three times as large as a normal banana, and it was surprisingly large even for Thai people. I wish I had a comparative photo.

Aspects of Japan and Asia where a heart break with each election

I have lived in Japan for many years and have paid taxes and exercised my right to vote. However, in the 21st century, it is often disappointing to see cases and accidents that are not accepted by the world community, as well as claims and opinions.

I take pride in being “international-oriented”. You can’t change your face, but you can change your personality and way of thinking. The United States and Europe have strongly formed Western culture in white-centered societies and have influenced the world. On the other hand, there are areas that should be native and black-dominated, such as Africa, South America, and yellow-race Asia, which have been colonized for many years.

Why there is no change of government policy in response to the will of Okinawan voters if they say No. against the Henoko U.S. New military base, in the basic democratic election.

That’s probably because Japan lost the war and is still in the American colonial basement. Even in the Myanmar elections, even if a democratic group wins in a military coup, it is regarded as an opposition force and killed. There is a business Japanese government that can do nothing to outrageousness situation. (It is not a citizen!)

I don’t want to think that it is the same Japanese who choose such people (Politicians).

Although the priority is “life” in the corona situation, there are also economically difficult individual restaurants, but restaurants and taverns of major chains have changed places, contents and jobs offered, and dismissed non-regular employees, can survive.

Japan seems to have dropped out of the world top-ranked nations in terms of politics, economy and culture. It seems that the reason why excellent human resources are not utilized is that they do not form the body of a democratic nation and that dignity is not utilized in individual consciousness.

It’s good to learn from the West or China and it’s also good to learn from historians, inventors and philosophers.

However, it is the worst to use military power and money power to push authority right through.

I am amazed at the actions and claims of Myanmar, Thailand, China, North Korea and Russia.

Memories of Thailand (Tomoyuki Mizukoshi)

His most recommended fruit is Dorian

A section of “Thai flowers-fruit trees, vegetables and leaf petals” have been launched and posted on Facebook. Photos from Thai group members and FB friends are also posted. During my stay in Thailand, whenever I visit a temple, I take pictures when I find beautiful flowers and trees in its garden.

However, the situation that I haven’t been able to go there in the last few years due to Corona situation. I often go to tropical botanical gardens around Japan (Also introduced in this blog) to take pictures, look for books to look up names in the library, and ask people living in Thailand. Recently, I learned that it has become easier to check using special application for smartphone.

Photos are also posted in the “Thai Flower Series” page on the Wat Japan website. However, unfortunately, the name, shooting location and time for those flowers is not completely mentioned. Please visit website as below.

Let me post a mail from Mr. Mizukoshi as below.

A few days ago, I found an evening edition featured as the situation of Thai Dorian. In Thailand, it was said that “a fruit that I want to eat even if I put my wife in the pawnbroker”, and I also ate it every year during my stay in Thailand.

Even after returning from Thailand, I was buying it that cost 7,000 to 8,000 yen at that time. Now you can buy it for 1-2 thousand yen.

It has a unique scent and is prohibited from being brought into airplanes or hotels, and children criticize it at home.

Known as the king of fruits, when the season comes, I want to eat it.

A few words from Suchitoo;

Unfortunately, delicious Thai fruits import into Japan are having some restriction. Canned food is possible, but I don’t see it at Kaldi, which sells imported foods. There are many Thai restaurants in Japan, so if you make a joint purchase, it will be cheaper … I think as a fan of Dorian. However, each fruit has a season, and the season is short, so it is the best to eat it locally. There are mango, papaya, longan (Ram Yai), banana (Year round), rambutan (Ngo), mangosteen, lynch and pineapple. Northern area of Thailand is famous for its delicious fruit regions.

Similar “Japanese-style rice ball” in Thailand

June 18th is “Onigiri” Day

There is a fun rice ball culture in Japan. However, there is no such country in Southeast Asia as Thailand, which has the same rice culture.

In 1994, when rice was poorly harvested in Japan, they sold Thai rice specially, but it was not popular because it was not favorite for Japanese and could not be cooked well.

However, the price was low. It was rice that helped the food crisis when it was in trouble. At that time, a Japanese Thai food researcher impressed Japanese agricultural scientists with the rice cooked by mixing Thai rice and sticky rice (Mochi rice). I had them eat it as Sushi and rice balls. This is because I didn’t know that Thai rice is different from Indica rice and Japan is different from Japonica rice, so it is not suitable for cooking.

Japanese rice is sticky and including water more than Indica, so it is easy to hold by hand. You can’t do it with Thai rice, and even if you hold it, it will be fluffy.

However, glutinous rice Thai Onigigiri “Kaoniam” is similar to how to eat Sushi because it is hardened by hand and soaked in juice or soaked in meat and vegetables and eaten together. Also, I think it is (Thai version rice ball) to eat ripe fruit mango with sticky rice. ..

I would like to introduce another (Thai version of grilled rice balls). Put glutinous rice in a bamboo tube. Then, I put it in a fire and bake it, and it is the best dish in northern Thailand that has good taste and sweetness due to its (Bamboo) aroma and steaming condition.

@The photo shows that are Sushi, Rice, Meat dishes, Curry, Mandarin oranges, etc. I received from local people while I was out for dhutanga.
